Reviewed June 15, 2022The nose is definitely sweet with vanilla and buttery caramel along with charred oak as a kick of strong baking spices highlights its 107 proof. The spice does mellow out as it breathes really highlighting a rich sweetness. It also allows the typical banana flavor to just ever so slightly start coming through, mixed nicely with the spice. The palate is somewhat dry yet chewy as it all quickly makes its way to the corners of the mouth with the spice lighting up the palate with an intensity. Still, the vanilla and oak swirl around along with notes of caramel, all now coming across as a bit toasted in nature. After the first sip, the spice isn’t too prominent allowing you to enjoy chewing on the sweet oakiness. It definitely lives up to its name, but it’s not sickeningly sweet, it’s rather a sharp sweetness. The finish is medium long and spicy yet still chewy with sweet notes of oak lingering while spice keeps the mouth tingling very nicely. Astringent banana fades in the background which really compliments the vanilla sweetness. All in all this is quite unlike your typical Jack and while only available as a 500ml it is very much worth it.Hotel Bitburg
