Jack Daniel's Twice Barreled American Single Malt (2022 Release)

Nose: unique. Rye, mint, hints of old fruit like an over ripe plum Body: light to medium Palate: follows the nose. Rye bread, a little sugary sweetness, a little of the old fruit sneaking through Finish: short to medium Note: another pick from don. This is not my favorite. Really just tastes like a straight forward rye, maybe a little mint to it. Meh.

The perfect cross between bourbon and scotch. It is loaded with notes of raisins, caramel, butterscotch, figs, bananas, caramel, honey, raisins, cloves, licorice, luxardo cherries, peanuts, almonds, hazlenuts, and milk chocolate.

Nose is full of toffee, cigar tobacco, maple, dried fruits, bananas foster, leather, and a musty moss/forest. A little more ethanol present than expected given the proof. Palate brings French vanilla, plum, apple, pear, date, butterscotch, cherry pipe tobacco, raisin, and the slightest hint of banana. Flavors are complex and punch well above their weight class here. Lingering finish takes a complete left turn and brings a big black tea leaf note, along with more plum, oak, white pepper, charcoal, cinnamon, and a building mint after repeated sips. Mouthfeel is very oily at first, but turns dry; so dry that honestly it comes off as a little abrasive and not the best match to the flavor profile which begs for a more creamy feel. A notable flaw. Overall, this is quite good. I’m not the biggest tea fan so the strong black tea note in the finish was a bit of a detriment, but I also understand that may be just me so hard to mark off for that. What’s less hard to mark off is the $199 price I paid (yeah I overpaid but I found it in the wild and wasn’t missing the chance) Would I pay that price or anywhere near it again? No. But I can’t judge it on that price. At retail of around $80? Would buy again all day. Solid 4.

Not putting too much thought into it tonight here are some basic notes. I’ll definitely revisit this for an in depth review. Nose: sweet n sour gummy worm, queen Ann cherries, dried plums Palate: dark fruit, bananas fosters Finish: chocolate, brown sugar, oak

Nose is charred new oak, sherry, berries, and plum. Palate is okay for a single malt. Sherry and cereal which is surprising from a JD label. Not a huge fan but good first effort on an ASM for them.

Nose: super tobacco rich nose. Complements of leather and caramel. Very earthy and herbal. It’s that earthy funk that is pleasant. Like old Leather chairs, a nice cigar or plowed garden soil. Palate: tobacco, barrel spice, caramel and brown sugar. Notes of coffee and bit of chocolate. This is really tasty. Finish: long lingering finish on the tongue. Mouth coating. It Doesn’t give you that Kentucky hug in the chest. I’m partial to the hug lol. Overall: 4.5/5 stars. If you’re fan of single malt whiskey it’s all here. This is delicious and the color is the rich dark amber. Almost like sap. I dig this pour. This bottle would bat 4th in a lot of lineups. Pure hitter.
