In a world of $700 2nd market prices for Btac and $150 retail rye - I shake my head and think - there must be a simpler more available solution? I turn to barrel proof whisky search for similar uniqueness, complexity and all preferably for a fraction of the cost.
Enter: Jack Daniels single barrel, barrel proof
Reality check: Most big name companies don’t make such a readily available release of their flagship product at barrel proof; so kudos to Brown Forman and I feel privileged to be given a chance to try JD in its purest form.
Nose: banana bread, pancake syrup, wet hay, freshly cut grass, rubbing alcohol.
Palate: sugar babies, shredded wheat, oak, Mexican vanilla.
Finish: DRY, DRY, DRY... did I mention it’s dry? Super thick mouth feel, coats your mouth, long lasting.
This is an interesting addition to our collections considering most of y’alls gateway drug into the bourbon world was probably heavily influenced by Jack.... - this is the no bullshit version- and at $65 the price is extremely fair. I like it, it’s unique and stands on its own in its own category.
