Voyage 26 of the Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea portfolio is the first rye whiskey for the brand. It was created by taking fully mature rye whiskey and rebarreling the lot -- 75% was placed into char #3 barrels and the other 25% was placed into new, toasted barrels. After six months at sea, the rye was bottled without chill-filtration at 96 proof.

RyeUnlike bourbon, rye whiskey can be made anywhere in the world. But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"Very classic rye aromas of toasted rye grain, dill, sweet grass, and cinnamon mix with a touch of orange blossom. The palate sets sail on more adventurous and bold horizons that include black cherry, root beer, pepper, and a good hit of that rye spice trifecta of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. What makes this rye stand out is an element of rich salted caramel toffee that glides into the midpalate and steers the flavor profile into a sweet-spicy finish with a spark of heat. "
