Jeptha Creed Four Grain Straight Bourbon

Reviewed August 22, 2020 (edited February 26, 2022)Young, spiky, not a very good nose or finish. The most disappointing stop while doing the bourbon trail in Kentucky. Pretty bottle but a pricey one. Wanted to like it but in the end it was the only distillery we went to where I didn’t take home a souvenir or bottle (from California) -

Reviewed August 12, 2020 (edited July 19, 2022)Definitely young, a bit spicy and harsh with an interesting almost bitter flavor at first. The finish has some vanilla and a hint of caramel. Would love to try this product again once it’s had more time in the barrel. -

Reviewed August 2, 2020Young taste with a spiciness from the weighting on rye. Not as down on this as other reviewers. Tastes of vanilla and pepper. -

Reviewed July 10, 2020Nose: Dusty grain barn. A bit of vanilla creeps in occasionally and a minty freshness. Also a little bit of spice but nothing serious. Taste: On the younger side, some caramel tries to come through. Dried grains and fruit with some nuttiness. More minty notes. Not your typical bourbon. Finish: Dark chocolate bitterness with some sweetness trying to come in at the end with just a subtle smoke. -

Reviewed April 7, 2020 (edited February 26, 2022)This bourbon is a light copper color with very thin very viscous legs. The nose is young. It has notes of astringency, corn dust, wildflowers, and vanilla. The palate is young and harsh. Notes of burnt caramel, cheap vanilla frosting, NGS, and pine sap and fight for attention though none should be the leading lady. The finish is hot at first then dives into a short anticlimax. It’s a shame because everything about this bourbon seemed to bespeak excellence! A straight bourbon from Kentucky, a four grain mash bill, even the unique bottle was beautiful! However, this bourbon was a disappointment, I don’t recommend it. Sorry Jeptha Creed. Try again. Cheers!
