Finally broke down and got the half bottle of this and boy am I an idiot for waiting so long. Poured neat, nose is fantastic. The cognac casks make themselves known with rich deep floral fruits. Aged leather, antique wood, brown sugar and overripe banana peel round it out. Slightly oily mouthfeel leads out palate of seasoned mahogany and vintage leathers. Its like your drinking a liquified chesterfield sofa. Of course there are classic notes of pure vanilla, cognac fruits and even some sarsaparilla but the sweetness is quite tamped down. Pipe tobacco and walnuts pick up near the end and transition to the finish alongside the museum furniture . This all turns to a pleasant dry/bitter that walks the line perfectly. There is a whisper of smoke, raw vanilla and prune skin that lingers. The flavors are bold and long lasting with nice complexity. At 100 proof still offers wow taste with an easy drinkability not found in most high test offerings This will be especially enjoyed by those who dont like overly sweet bourbons. Well I do and I still find this wonderful. I paid $ 53 for a 375 and feel its easily worth the 100+ for full bottle. I really want to try the cigar blend now despite $150 tagger. If you are on the fence just do it........95/100
