Kirkland 20 Year Speyside Single Malt Sherry Cask Finish

Nice sherry smoothness and flavor. Just a flash of alcohol burn then drops right off. Warm and sweet spices

I'm a sucker for sherry cask aged whisky. This is no exemption. It's not as good as many of the 18-20 year sherry casks I've tried, but the price point drives up the rating.

AB with Hibiki Harmony N: lots of dark fruit, sherry, some apple, raisins P: sweet sherry grapes, tannic F: oak, sweet, fruity, prunes Score: 73

Nose: malt, brown sugar, hint of buttery honey, fairly sherry heavy, dark fruits- fig, maybe cherries, almonds, dried baking spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, hint of vanilla, old leather, very pleasant and easy going, mild. Taste: cherries, dark fruit sweetness, spices, oaky bite, nuttiness, lightly sweet that transitions into an ashy moment, oily, old leather, slightest musty old book or library note, almonds, medium finish that lingers for a moment or two. Really good considering the price. I’m digging it.
