Knappogue Castle 16 Year Sherry Cask Finished
Knappogue Castle // Ireland
This bottling is a triple-distilled Irish Single Malt which is aged in two types of barrels. First, it spends at least 14 years in ex-bourbon barrels before spending its final months in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Limited production, so keep your eyes peeled at finer retailers and bars.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.

"The nose clues us in on the sherry barrels with nutty and raisin-y aromas with an almost rancio, rummy note as well. The fruit stays with you on the palate along with maple syrup, lemon flavored tea, and coffee grounds. The whiskey finishes dry and bitter, but has a sufficient length."
