Nose is salty sea air, smoked meat with a touch of lemon citrus. Altogether a little thin on the nose.
Mouth is a bit thin at first but there is a ton going on after a few seconds. The char is a lot more subtle than I imagined, it’s really done well. I get a lot of earthy, vegetal, flower notes. A dankness, reminiscent of marijuana is present.
Overall a really fun whiskey to drink.

Nose: honeysuckle, char, fragrant flowers (rose?), Grass, ocean air
Mouth: oak, recently burning bonfire and peat, red berries, dark chocolate
Finish: honey, light smoke, hay, vegetal wood
Flavors works really well together. Not a peat or smoke bomb as descriptions would lead you to believe. I had high expectations for this, but it exceeded that
On the first pour, the nose was a little thin until it sat and breathed for a while. Betting the nose improves greatly once under the shoulder. After about 15-20 minutes, the nose opens up with what only can be described as Applewood Smoked Bacon. There were dark cherries and blackberry notes coming through as well. The peat smoke was muted but definitely present with light iodine, bandaid and phenolic notes.
The palate was also thin at first and thickened through to the bottom of the glass. The berry notes started things off with green apples and salted butter following right on the heals. Vanilla and caramel were up next. Reminded me of roasting apples on a campfire then wrapping with caramel. The mouthfeel improved greatly and became buttery and more oily as the dram diminished.
The finish was interesting with new notes of star anise, citrus and smoked bacon rounding things out.
I truly anticipate this whisky improving over time.
