Much lighter than I expected from a Laphroig, then a surge of flavor coming into the tail. Very stark difference. Lighter smokiness on the nose, much calmer than the 10 year. Mostly mild sweet wood, and the smoke follows in on the tail. I honestly don't care much for it, there's not enough there. Interesting flavor change, but all falls flat.
Solid - however with a dryer finish due to the American Oak cask aging I think. Just like the description - throw all our single malts together into one fine bottle!
