Not enough Spanish brandy on this site. It is often a sugar bomb. This Lepanto Oloroso Viejo is, decidedly, not that.
12 yrs in Tio Pepe Fino Sherry; 3 yr in ex-Oloroso Apóstoles & Matusalém sherry. Lovely mahogany in the bottle and nut-brown in the glass
Nose: Clean vanilla; some perfume.
Palate: Musty. Dried raisins & figs, light toasted nuts. Some sweetness, but much more rich than I expected.
Finish: Clovey alcohol. Lingering.
Verdict: Nice sipper. Excited to pair it with spanish jamon and to contrast it with undistilled Tio Pepe sherry. Might not get again, but is fun this time.
