Reviewed March 31, 2021Nose: Caramel. Slight peat. Reminds me a bit of Oban 14. A ”nutty” fruitiness of some sort. A bit dirty overall, had a bit of a blended feel to it. Not overly impressed. Palate: Fat and oily. Spices and herbs. Some sort of nuttyness. Tobacco. A hint of peat. Significantly better than the nose. Finish: Medium long. Dark nuts, tobacco, (dark) chocholate, and leather. Overall: The nose is ok at best, whereas the palate and finish are really good. I score it 3.75 (on par with the 12yo), noting that I do have an overall soft spot for Loch Lomond’s herbal nutiness (which I’d say is a common characteristic for most of their whiskies. -

Reviewed March 20, 2021This 15 year old is as of writing the review $47 in the Swedish monopoly, which is a very low price. On the nose it is vanilla sweet with maybe some smoke and honey. The taste is sweet vanilla, honey and some peat which turns into anise and and quite intense oak and pepper. The aftertaste intensifies the oak and has some more of the anise, honey and smoke. This was from a sampler pack, might have to pick up a regular bottle while the price is this good, so far the whole sampler pack has been a pleasant suprise.399.0 SEK per Bottle -

Reviewed February 25, 2021The nose is sweet with honeyed fruits and bananas, it could also be fresh orchard apples and spice. I smell both. The palate is sweet caramel with a smooth mouthfeel. The finish is peppery, and spicy. And it lingers for a while. Adding some water, the nose gains more vanilla and apple pie. The palate stays mostly the same. The finish gains a bit of peat warmth to add to the long peppery finish. This whisky smells appetizing and it goes down fairly smoothly. I am pleasantly surprised.
