Reviewed September 22, 2023Vanilla and caramel notes you get in most whiskey in the beginning with the agave coning later. In general mostly light caramel, vanilla, roasted agave, lime, hay, then when the finish comes heavier oak, hay, cinnamon and mineral. this is a strange agave spirit for sure. Not bad but not as standard as the normal mexican tequila. There is some obvious bourbon notes from tbe barrel but they arent overtly intense and i personally enjoyed the higher proof. Maybe not everyones cup ot tea but i enjoyed the bottles thoughly.35.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed July 16, 2023 (edited September 1, 2023)“This 100% Blue Agave spirit is pot distilled and then rested gently in our Kentucky bourbon barrels” - MB Roland site Its what it is, cask strength bourbon barrel aged tequila. Legally cant call it tequila so its “KY Azul” I love bourbon, and tequila… and this brings them both together in some symmetry never experienced. One side, you have the smoothness of the agave. Smooth and floral The other hand brings the rye spice, oaky presence from the barrel. At cask strength. This is a doozy, and needed to be drank in sips. I have found similar agave creations being aged in bourbon barrels. This one so far is my first, and still favorite. The complexity to it is unlike the others. Either the rye isnt my level of desire, or the rye over takes the agave. But thats just my opinion. 4.5/5 its great, but cask strength does make it overwhelming too. If it were closer to 80 proof, that may be the deciding factor50.0 USD per BottleThe Party Source
