My partner gifted me this on a trip to new mexico. stuff is actually pretty damn good, ive seen it around but never jumped on it. A blend of malt and rye and has both attributes. oaky and robust up front with the standard rye herbal, spice. Would recommend to anyone getting into rye and i think this could make some solid old fashions

i was blindsided by this at Total wine when i went in to pick up their Dolce bottle! great price too!! Savory Bacon, the briney sea salt, the earthy peats, the numbing pepper, oily cedar tar, oaky barbaque and theres a dash of honey in there too. Everything you love about the ten amped up to a robust yet elegant dram. the proofing is fantastic as well, its the highest one from ardbeg ive had and carries the flavours well.89.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Got my hands on this the other day at Total wine for about 99 bucks. the colour is noticeably darker than than the 10 year and carrys a fruited sweetness on the nose along with the characteristic peat. on the front there a rich orange, dried fruit sweetness which turns into a more chocolatey, and peaty smoke comes through. The finish carries the peat and the seasalt also begins to linger on the tongue at this point. I think for 99 that this bottle is a really good grab for a peated scotch fan. A short rush of caramel with a trailing of mild oak. There is a familiar flavor that comes out heavily in bulleits single malt strangely enough which is a fennel-esque rye note. althoug i know there is none considering the mash bill is 95% wheat/ 5% malted barley. The finish is pretty short and one dimensional with mild brown sugar. I feel like this could be a great mixer for an old fashion or a quick shot but i wouldnt expect an everyday pour.24.0 USD per BottleCahokia Heights Police Department

Jim Beam Signature Craft Six-Row Barley Bourbon 11 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 8, 2024 (edited June 26, 2025)This may be my fav beam release to be honest. These little pints are sleepers at my store, but have so much flavor. This eleven year showcases the barley with a robust wave of brown sugar, salted caramel and vanilla sweetness. mild leather, cereal, and dark malty and molasses follow along with robust oak and wood spice. the finish is medium to long with warming spice and brown sugar. the only gripe i have about the bourbon is that although the flavor is there it is very watery and i feel like a higher proofing even by a few percents could have helped. Otherwise great whiskey from beam -
Bulleit Single Malt
American Single Malt — USA
Reviewed September 27, 2024 (edited December 20, 2025)This is rated so low because 50+ dollars for this is robbery. aside from that it wouldnt be so bad at a 30 dollar price point but there is little to nothing that great going on that would impress a scotch fan or actually any single malt fan in general. A deep dark malt note, a small dash if something adjacent to corn sweetness, mild nuttiness and some herbal, earthier notes closer to the end. The color is light and slightly oily but also thin. the finish is definitely earthy with peppery notes. there is no peaty notes, its closer to an earthy wood smoke. Another issue i come across is the new american oak barrels which i find to be slightly bland compared to a bourbon barrel or sherry cask finish in other malts. It comes off young and underdeveloped. if your looking for islay level smoke or a fruity and nutty highland then this is probably not in your best interests. meh :^(59.0 USD per Bottle -
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye (2024 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 21, 2024 (edited January 6, 2025)What a rye! Herbs and spices, heavy juniper, anise, slight dill followed by a wave of black pepper. Once this subsides there is mild caramel and some more prominent oak that turns into a super spicy, creamy and long finish. Ive never been too big on heaven hill but this rye was a treat! -
Glen Moray Elgin Classic
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 3, 2024 (edited October 10, 2024)Its what the profiles say. Mild vanilla, light oak, mildly floral with dashes of caramel. the finish is short to medium length and relatively easy drinking. good enough to enjoy, but nothing mind blowing. Better than spey river thats for sure -
Chattanooga Whiskey Barrel Finishing Series: Islay Scotch Cask Finish
Other Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 25, 2024 (edited October 10, 2024)Rich oak, mild caramel, cherry/apple, cereal, then earthiness appear and bring a sweeter smoke, slightest amount of brine/salinity, baking spices galorez the finish is medium to long and mostly consists of a moderate peat but there is baking spice and a corn sweetness that follows as well. This is a nice way to dip your toes into the world of peat, althought ive been spoiled by my many ventures into islay whisky that this prob wouldny be my first choice. besides that for the pricepoint, and the uniqueness and work put into the whiskey i think its great!
