Reviewed February 24, 2023This is a review for the first batch. Incredible! Unique, innovative, and delicious! Fruity, sweet but not too sweet, not too much sherry, fruity with some spice and an unexpected flavor probably coming from the chestnut. Almost like a hint of seasoning salt over coriander. -

Reviewed February 23, 2023 (edited July 16, 2023)Slightly dark penumbra on the nose, and yes, a chestnut sensibility. Nutty, with the malt in the background. A lovely tasting with orange blossom, crushed roasted hazelnut, soft baking spice, brown bread, Devon cream, mild tea and graham cracker. Spectacular flavor and a smooth, round mouthfeel. A long finish, ending on a hint of young wood. Highly recommended. -

Reviewed January 27, 2023 (edited April 6, 2023)I’ll try any cask finish once and chestnut cask was new to me. I enjoyed it and I think the additional finish amped up some of what I like in an Irish whiskey with it’s intense nutty notes. I like a sweet whiskey and I know there’s going to be some serious honey to any Midleton distillate, but it lost a bit for lacking some complexity and the finish can trail off into a weirdly bitter almond shell taste. Still, great creamy texture and an easygoing drink when you want something that smacks of county fair roasted nuts.70.0 USD per BottleAmherst St. Wine & Liquor -

Reviewed November 28, 2022 (edited February 23, 2023)Nose: bourbon finish, vanilla, crisp, clean; hints of cherry, caramel, green apple, hard candy Taste: tangy, tart, green apple, dry wood, thin, bitter Notes: there’s something different or unique about this that I haven’t encountered. Suspect it could be younger or non Scottish. Maybe heavily charred.
