Mezcal Marca Negra Tepeztate
Marca Negra // Oaxaca, Mexico
Marca Negra produces mezcal in a variety of different regions with diverse agave species and mezcaleros. Their tepeztate is made in San Luis del Rio, Tlacolula, Oaxaca from wild 100% agave marmorata (tepeztate) that were 25-30 years old. The mezcalero is Jorge Véndez Ramirez, who chose a double distillation in copper pot stills, bottled with no additional aging. Produced in limited quantities.
Mezcal JovenA spirit distilled from one or more different varieties of agave. Can only be produced in designated areas within 8 different Mexican states. Must be bottled in México. This is unaged or aged in stainless steel or plastic containers before bottling.
"Here's a mezcal that truly tastes of the earth, with an intense minerality. Green peppers, grass and wild chive underlie a rich smokiness akin to peat smoke. Hot chili pepper and citrus add further complexity, lasting into the long, lingering spicy/smoky finish."
