Marca Negra produces mezcal in a variety of different regions with diverse agave species and mezcaleros. Their tepeztate is made in San Luis del Rio, Tlacolula, Oaxaca from wild 100% agave marmorata (tepeztate) that were 25-30 years old.
The mezcalero is Jorge Véndez Ramirez, who chose a double distillation in copper pot stills, bottled with no additional aging. Produced in limited quantities.

"Here's a mezcal that truly tastes of the earth, with an intense minerality. Green peppers, grass and wild chive underlie a rich smokiness akin to peat smoke. Hot chili pepper and citrus add further complexity, lasting into the long, lingering spicy/smoky finish."
