Mount Gilboa Rum
Aged Rum
Mount Gilboa // Barbados
While most Bajan rums are a masterful blend of pot and column-stilled rum, Mount Gilboa is unique in that it’s 100 percent pot-still, made by the same distiller and facility that produces rums for Mount Gay. Unlike the vodka world, triple-distilling really means something with this expression.
It makes three separate passes through the distillery's double-retort pot still. The production runs on this rum were relatively small and distribution was limited, so don’t pass up the opportunity purchase one if you find it for sale.

Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".

Tasting Notes
"The Mount Gilboa presents itself in the glass with a medium copper color. The nose leaves no question that this is a heavy, pot-stilled rum, more oily than fruity. Sipping it reveals more sweet fruit than the nose would suggest, however. The heavy congeners are dialed back a bit. The mouth feel, while substantial, is lighter you might expect. The moderately long finish exhibits a flash of menthol. Although there’s no age statement, it seems to have spent more than a token year or two in the barrel. A must-have for fans of bold, English-style pot-stilled rums."
