Very good, complex whisky. I love all the flavors going on here. The only criticism I have, and it may sound odd, but it almost feels overly engineered. It doesn't grab me in any single way but tries to be strong in so many areas that it fights with itself for an identity.
Although this whisky smells like oak chips soaking in nail polish remover, the palate is a bit more reassuring with a tasty combination of fruit cake and caramel. The finish is slightly bitter and thankfully short. This whisky is really not for me, but a seasoned Bourbon drinker may find this interesting.
If you like chocolate and/or oak, this whisky is for you. I blind taste the majority of my whiskies (samples) and rare are the occasions I wrongly identify the type of malted spirit in drinking. I was severely wrong with this one - I was convinced I was drinking a bourbon. and that gives you an idea of this expression's predominant flavor profile. That said, this is good stuff. Slainte!
