A few years ago, when I lived in Setagaya Tokyo, I'd walk into the local Summit grocery store and pick up a bottle of this amazing blended (married) whisky for the equivalent of $18 cms (¥1900). With all the attention it's gotten over the years, it's no wonder the price has gone up a little bit. It retails now adays in Japan for less than ¥3000 yen but a whopping $64 in Canada. Even at that price, it's worth it. At 51.4%, From the Barrel offers a flavorful drinking experience that blends spices, oak, grain and heat. It's a truly excellent whisky and I tip my hat at Nikka for putting together a great product at a reasonable price.
P.s., if you get a chance to visit Miyagi province in Sendai, Nikka has one of their distilleries there and it's worth the trip.
