Noilly Prat Extra Dry Vermouth
Noilly Prat // France
Noilly Prat Extra Dry Vermouth is a more clear/pale, drier vermouth compared to Original Dry Vermouth recipe. That version has a more golden tinge to it and is slightly sweeter than this Extra Dry version. This extra dry version is made using 14 different herbs and spices including chamomile, coriander, bitter oranges, and orris root. Noilly Prat Extra Dry Vermouth was sold in the US from 1979-2009 and reintroduced there in 2012. Bottled at 18% ABV.
VermouthVermouth is a type of aromatized wine. It is fortified and flavored with botanicals typically featuring Artemisia absinthium (wormwood) as the primary bittering agent. In the EU, it must be made from 75% wine and its ABV is 14.5-22%. Vermouth styles range from extra dry to sweet.
"With a very pale yellow color, the vermouth opens up aromas of sea salt, orange peel, some bitter roots and a very slight nutty profile. On the palate, the vermouth is sharp and tangy. These aromas aren't super intense on the palate, but the same notes appear. Chamomile and coriander show up as light notes. Very much a vermouth for when you don't want to overpower your cocktail. If you prefer a Vodka Martinis, you might want to give this one a try."
