"Old Ballantruan The Peated Malt / 50% / NAS" Nose: Burned wood sticks and needles, malt, notes of creamy cream. [n23] Taste: The body is dense, oily. Peat, dried fruits, a little salt. [t21] Finish: long and rich. Smoke, wood, peat, a little wine notes. [f20] Balance: Fine peaty whisky with a rich aroma and taste. When the drink is poured into the glass, the air is saturated with the aroma from childhood, when children near the camp fire burned sticks from bushes and trees, and chased each other with coals at the ends. In taste, rich smokiness neatly envelops a light taste of dried fruits with a small slice of salt. Despite the relatively high degree (50%), spirituousness is not felt at all, letting you enjoy a truly spicy dance of haze and dried fruit. Peaty and spicy, bringing together a nice sharpness along with the smokiness. Not overly complex but it might be hidden by the strong notes.
