Old Blowhard 26 Year Bourbon
Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. // Kentucky, USA
From Diageo's Orphan Barrel project, this bourbon hails from the Old Bernheim Distillery in Kentucky, though it is bottled at the Dickel distillery in Tennessee. Like the Barterhouse, it too has a mash bill of 86% corn, 8% barley, and 6% rye. Aged for 26 years, this is a one-time release; once it is gone, it is gone. Available only in the U.S.
BourbonProduced anywhere in USA; Mash bill of at least 51% corn; aged in new, charred oak barrels.
Cask Typenew, charred American oak
"Naturally, with more age you will experience more barrel influence in the whiskey. In this case, the oak and char seem to overwhelm most of the character you happen to find. Vanilla and caramel can be sussed out along with overcooked apples. The finish is peppery and on the bitter side of life. It may not be a bad thing that there is not more of this to sell."
