Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon

Wow, oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip cookies dominates the nose followed by earth, cedar, cologne, & Christmas spices. Flavor follows the nose with those cookies, burnt sugar sweetness, chewy mouthfeel, and long easy drinking spicy finish. Sweet baby jesus, I'm in love. As soon as I took a whiff, I was blown away. Peanut butter/oatmeal cookies with Christmas spice! Seriously?! Amazing!

While I don't taste the nutty Beam funk yeast in any of the Beam small batch Bourbons, I taste it in all the sub-$25 Beam offerings. While it makes Jim Beam White one note, it works much better in the high eye OGD and brings a little of the Basil Hayden profile to the sub-$25 market. I picked up sweet vanilla, corn, licorice, and cinnamon. Moderate finish. Good enough to sip neat and full enough to mix well. I will buy when it is on sale. Edit: with ice, the barrel influence and oak show up ... quite enjoyable for the price ... 3.5 stars?

great value at around 20 abottle. smooth drink for 100 proof. looks a little young, strong candied orange peel on the nose. sweet corn and orange on the palate, finishing with vanilla crème brûlèe. mixes perfectly into a Manhattan.
