Nose: caramel, sharp ethanol, gentle vanilla, peanuts
Palate: creamy marshmallow, gentle rye spice, faint nuttiness
Finish: full on beam peanut funk with rye bread and creamy marshmallow spread
Decent for $20, I was hoping for big things from this bottle but it just doesn’t do it for me like what old forester rye does for me at the same price point
The alcohol is a bit sharp on the nose, but underneath is marzipan and banana pudding. The taste has a characteristic, nutty Beam profile, and it drinks less hot than it smells. I get sweet tea vibes from this one. The oak is subdued and flairs-up along side the rye on the finish. The finish is long for a whiskey of this caliber. The marzipan from the nose comes back, and a syrupy caramel lingers for a good 30 seconds to a full minute.
smells of wood and molasses. taste: spicy, cinnamon with the oak; the taste of alcohol is nonexistent, fully covered, overshadowed by the bonded whiskey. warm, not harsh--smooth. taste lingers: nutty, warm and full. the best that's why I drink a bottle a month
