Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey (80 proof)

Not rich but smooth and spiced. Not robust but nice to drink. Not complex, it’s simple but nice. 12th try gosling.

This is just too tame to be a rye. it has a pleasant nose, but it is very light on the tongue and there is almost no finish. There are high rye bourbons that have way more spice than this and are much better.

Nose full of oak and sawdust, but pay attention and you’ll catch a whiff of dark cherry. It’s the opposite of full on the palate. Feels like it’s almost not there. No sweetness. Very dry with more astringent feel than taste. Finish is long with a spice bite on the edges of the tongue.
