Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey (80 proof)

Smooth, easy to drink rye. Better as a mixer than a sipper, but still solid with good historical charm and lore attached to it.

Solid for a budget rye. Initial cherry/chocolate/cola flavors but finishes like a rye. Fuller flavor than other cheap ones. Late alcohol burn. Will use as mixer mostly.

I see why this is the old-school standard for ryes.

Not a good rye. Spice is there but the usual “Jim beam” spice. Not great. Mediocre at best

A little hollow on its own, good for Manhattan’s
