Old Pulteney Pentland Skerries
Single Malt
Old Pulteney // Highlands, Scotland
This is one of trio of travel retail releases from Old Pulteney called "The Lighthouse Collection". This is named after the pair of lighthouses on the largest of the four islands collectively named the Pentland Skerries.
It is located northeast of the most northerly part of mainland Scotland and is south of the Orkney Islands. The whisky is aged entirely in ex-sherry barrels and this is sold in liter-sized bottles.

Tasting Notes
"The aroma is an odd mixture of caramel apples, fish oil, and a Brillo pad (slightly metallic). The taste is initially sweet on your tongue with vanilla bean and dark honey before becoming spicy hot with cinnamon and black pepper. Dried fruits like figs and raisins are present, but perhaps not as much as you'd expect of a sherry-aged whisky. The finish ends on the bitter and tangy side. The dram isn't dreadful, it's just youthful."
