A 5 cl miniature from my local government liquor store, poured at room temperature into a whiskey tasting glass.
Oh, it’s pleasant, almost unbearably so!
The nose is frankly mostly vanilla and alcohol.
Likewise the palate. Vanilla and alcohol burn. Any oak barrel note is very faint indeed.
Realistically, these impressions are inevitably tainted by my imbibing 300 ml dry red wine and 90 ml medium dry sherry ahead of this tasting.

This is an excellent, easy drinking scotch. Nose is subtle, but enough salt, apple strudel with icing, vanilla and cinnamon to make it interesting. Would buy again
Great quality/price ratio. The entry level of Old Pulteney delivers quite well. A bit salty, a bit savory it’s a great way to start an evening. It’s delicate in its features, there’s an hint of vanilla, of coffee, of malt and it takes you right by the seaside with its slight saltiness.
