Paul Beau VSOP Grande Champagne Cognac

A rich, 'VSOP Grande Champagne Cognac by Paul & his wife Denise in Cognac, France made with Ugni Blanc & a tiny fraction of Colombard grapes, all grown within the majestic family vineyards & aged in new & seasoned French barrique. It has an aromatic birth with notes of dried fruits, Cedar, white flowers, grapes, fig, vanilla & a hint of toast; while a rich life adds notes of pear, mango, raisins dusted with brown sugar, honey, caramelized apple; that leads to a long & spicy death with notes of rancio & blood orange. Fruity

Sweet, started off with very strong over ripe grapes flavours, followed by dried mango, and then some leafy, bitter orange and oaky notes. An elegant and relatively light cognac.

Smells almost like a candied orange. Orange on the palate too, but also retains much of the grape flavor as well as subtler notes or vanilla and salt. Starts a bit hot and there’s a disappointingly short finish, but overall a very impressive producer Cognac.
