A hint of wine to the smell and taste

This may deserve a bump in rating as I adore the honey-drenched components at play. Still, there is a slight shortness of subtlety here... overall, still pleasantly enjoyable though I worry I may not remember much about this in a few months.

Strong spicy notes right of the gate with more predominant hints of honey as it airiates. Spicy tones on the palate with an light zesty aftertaste. Smooth whiskey for a 43%.

All I can think about is a holiday fruit cake. It also feels a little delicate, and there is something else kind of funky there I can't put my finger on. Kind of that funky smell of a brewery, but if that were a taste.
