Rampur Indian Single Malt
Rampur // India
Rampur Indian Single Malt is produced by Radico Khaitan Distillery in the foothills of the Himalayas. With a history dating back to 1943, Radico Khaitan only recently entered the global single malt whisky market. Rampur is described as the Kohinoor of Single Malts, referencing one of the largest cut diamonds in the world.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.
"Apple peel, citrus fruits and pear skins go hand-in-hand with caramel and fudge. Quite floral as well, coming close to being perfume-y, but it accomplishes to delicately walk that tight rope. There's lots of synergy between the nose and the palate. A similar fruitiness here, but there are also some funkier notes, almost like an Irish single pot still whiskey. A good debut on the world stage."
