Rémy Martin XO Cognac

Nose of citrus peel, grapes, a little something smoky, dried stone fruit, white cake. Thin on the palate, however, a little smoky, some barrel char, alcohol. Short hot finish. Incredibly deceptive. The nose is rich and complex. I thought i was about to sip something great, but not so much.

Medium amber, legs. Wood, raisin, orange peel, vanilla. Mildly sweet, brown sugar, caramel, spice (cardamom). Full body, mild alcohol, slightly bitter walnut finish. Pleasant and balanced, but lacks complexity, and very expensive. On plane (Asiana business class); wouldn’t pay for it.

This spirit has a nice amber color. I get hazelnut and woodiness on the nose —which also nicely appeared on the palate. On the palate, I got a bit of dates or perhaps prunes.
