Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond

Earthy. Oak and rye. Very dry.

Caramel and marshmallow on the nose with the slightest bit of raw potato. Cool at first then quick-building spiciness. Anise and buttered-brown sugar. A bit of hay and grass.

The nose takes a minute to open up, but once it does you get a pleasant camp fire with roasted marshmallows, rye spices, cinnamon and a touch of brown butter. The palate is dry and rich with strong baking spices up front along with equally strong rye spices, with brown butter, oak and hints of mint, caramel and brown sugar. The finish is medium long with fading rye and baking spices, with brown butter, brown sugar and oak softly in the background.
