Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond

I have no idea how this got a 92, other than the price and proof, because it tastes like Jack....and Jack sucks. Awful stuff neat but makes the lady happy in her mixed drinks so I guess that works.

OH baby! I bought this bottle because it seemed like a solid and reasonably priced choice to make my Manhattans. I wanted to give the fine liquid inside a taste in its own and give it a reasonable assessment. It's pretty assertive on the nose, as well as ok the palate. I get vanilla, burnt sugary sweetness, and a punch of almond on the way down. There is a lasting finish (no surprise), but comparing this to something as oh say Noah's Mill, there's a lack of softness that leaves something to be desired. But for $25...seriously something this good?! I think this has become a home staple from here on out! Spice...did I mention spice?!
