Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond

Barrel char, cocoa, and some sea salt caramel on the nose. It takes a few minutes to open up. Tasting reveals a wonderful texture to this whiskey. A few drops of water really brings out the subtle flavors. Taste is flavorfully rich and complex. There are dark chocolate, molasses, orange, gingerbread, and toasted oak notes. Deep in the background is a light fruit presence. Ginger and Mexican cinnamon dominate the balanced spices that are present. Barrel char appears with the spices, toasted oak and molasses in the finish. This is a wonderful rye whiskey that is worthy of five stars.

Getting rye whiskey is hard to do in my part of France and when you can find it, it's twice as expensive, but I am so grateful to have been given this, it's one of my favourites!! Lemony flavours, orange peel, lots of nuts (chestnut, walnut, praline, cocoa, coconut) creamy caramel, splendid medicinal notes, ginger (and other flavours I'd associate with sushi), toasty flavours, sweet spicy pepper... that's just some of the flavours I can actually remember. As for the texture, it's so luxuriant and oily! It's a shame that some awful pagans have given this holy whisky a bad review or defile it by using it in cocktails, may the Lord have mercy upon your souls.
