Spicy, full, rich, and sweet are my favorite characteristics of any whisky, but what really surprised me about this one is the low price; bang for the buck. In my opinion, this one is easily in league with or can beat other rye whiskys in the $30-$40 range.
A crisp golden color. Sweet nose with honey and spice, not too harsh. Palate has initial spiciness with some sweet and smoky undertones, surprisingly smooth for a 100 proof rye. Finish is long and warm. A classic rye whiskey made even better by the cheaper price.
Deep copper color. Peaches, grain and cinnamon on the nose. Hits the palate with more stonefruit and a peppery undertone - less rye spice than one might expect. Short finish incorporates some tannin.
