Rolling fork El Salvador 11 yr

This is indeed a special rum. It is almost perfect in balance between sweetness and spice. No funk. Very smooth. Rivals many rums of a higher price point. On my 4th bottle - it's that good. I wish I knew what distillery it was from.

One of the best rums I’ve had. You get the typically rum notes like molasses, banana, and a hint of coconut. The taste is butterscotch, vanilla, pineapple, and some black tea. What’s most interesting is the accompanying spice on the finish. This rum was partially aged in rye barrels. I get rye notes like all spice, cinnamon, and some pepper. No HOGO. It has a nice, woody finish. It’s well balanced and the higher proof is a bonus. I got this for $60 and feel like it’s well worth it.

That is a fascinating rum. You taste sooo much sugar candied with long fruity herbal notes… but a whole mess of vanilla toffee. Worth every cent and every drop I paid for it.

there’s only one distillery in El Salvador that produces at any volume. The rum was actually aged in El Salvador for 10 year, then 22 months in KY (so not quite another 2 years, which is why it says 11 years). The first batch done is “fire” a blend of the different types of barrels - so, ex-bourbon, ex-port, ex-sherry, and ex-rye all combined.
