Ron Barceló Imperial Onyx
Aged Rum
Ron Barceló // Dominican Republic
Like the other rums in its portfolio, Ron Barceló Imperial Onyx begins by using fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses in its production. For this brand, the rum has been aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels with a heavy char.
Additionally, the rum is filtered through onyx stones before its bottled at 40% ABV, hence its name. Released in February 2018.

Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".

Tasting Notes
"The dark amber colored rum shows a medium caramel, vanilla and oak note with a touch of dried herbs and toasted nuts. It's medium full on the palate with a soft mouthfeel and a little slickness. The nutty note returns on the finish with some dark chocolate. Overall, it's medium sweet and has just enough barrel aging to give the rum some dimension. Try in a Rum Old Fashioned."
