Along with the rest of their products, this tequila had a bottle design change in June of 2015, but this item kept its same name. Sauza Conmemorativo Añejo provides a good introduction to the añejo (aged) tequila category. Matured for 18 months, this a 100% Blue Agave tequila.

Distilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least a year in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, but ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Añejo tequilas are also known as "aged" or "extra aged".

Tasting Notes

"On the nose, this añejo offers up aromas of oak, cooked agave, vanilla and caramel. On the palate, this is surprisingly light-bodied for an añejo, definitely not syrupy as many can be. Instead, flavors of pineapple and mango, brown sugar, vanilla and caramel are predominant, with hints of pepper and oak apparent. The finish is quick for an añejo, but enjoyable nonetheless with penuche, oak and caramel tones abundant. It is great sipped neat, but has a light enough profile and affordable price point to even mix into margaritas."
