Reviewed June 30, 2026Nose: cinnamon, rye bread, nutmeg, brown sugar, maple Taste: cherry, brown sugar, cinnamon, maple, butterscotch I have several critiques. This has more proof but no added depth or complexity. The flavors are all very common and not interesting. Also, personal preference here, but this just tastes like basic bourbon. I love bourbon but when I buy a rye, I want a rye. It seems pointless to make a rye with the lowest amount of rye possible so that it just tastes like bourbon. I've had better whiskeys at much lower prices and proofs. Too much heat, not enough flavor. Really hoping this opens up.60.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed June 30, 2026In comparison to the regular hundred proof rye, this is significantly more boastful and smell and flavor. Comes off significantly minty with really forward right grain in your face, but for full proof is actually quite smooth and it’s more rice spice than heat spice. Good but feels a bit young to me. -

Reviewed May 14, 2026Drinks much less harsh than its 125 proofpoint. Really smooth on the back end. If you like higher proofpoint whiskeys youll love this. I like it muuuuuch more than its 90 proof little brother. For a 125 proof rye at $35 a bottle, you wont find any better anywhere. 100% would buy again. -

Reviewed May 4, 2026Even with s couple drops of water, I find this to be relatively harsh and this is coming from a proof hound. I find that the burn is the most pronounced aspect of this whiskey. Yes it has sweet and oaky notes with a hint of baking spice but it comes in too lite to support the proof. -

Reviewed April 14, 2026 (edited April 29, 2026)Tasting- 2 oz. In glen cairn with and without water Nose- citrus, burnt orange and some mint. Ethanol forward Palate- citrusy burnt orange peel, ginger, earthy, and a tad bitter. Smooths out with water, but very condensed. Lacks sweetness. Finish- bitter lemon with some earth. Needs water Overall- a bit of a letdown. This needs to be cut to release concentrated flavors. 100 proof is the way to go. -

Reviewed March 26, 2026 (edited March 31, 2026)So we’ve tried the baby version (90 proof), the grown up version (100 proof) and now like a Pokemon, Sazerac rye reaches its final form… Nose is vibrant and punchy with hot honey, golden apple, rye spice, caraway seed, mint, grass and pepper. Some earthy barnyard funk/mushroom came out after a while which I found interesting. Ethanol is there but hey, it’s 125 proof. Palate opens with the sweet side of rye offering more apple (a weird note for a rye but it’s there), cocoa, orange slice candy, and more hot honey. Flavors blast your tongue. Finish turns things toward the herbal with fennel, mint, dill, cinnamon, black pepper, and an oak which presents as slightly sour. Worth noting that the sweet notes from the palate still linger making this a delightful ride. That black pepper note definitely carries, making the finish quite long. Mouthfeel is full bodied and oily as fuck. I love this. I favor my ryes punchy and high proof so this really hit the mark for me. Is it the best rye I’ve ever tasted? Well no, but it’s certainly great. And that’s where I reveal that I paid $40 for this. $40??? Are you serious? When you factor in that this is literally half the price of almost every other rye of this quality on the market, it has to be a 5.0. It just has to be. I got this on mail order but if it ever hits shelves in my area it’s literally going to live in my cabinet forever. Yeah, it’s like that.39.99 USD per Bottle
