Shelter Point Artisanal Single Malt Whisky
Shelter Point // British Columbia, Canada
Shelter Point Artisanal Single Malt is made from 100% malted barley which is grown on its 380-acre seaside estate in Oyster River, BC. After double copper pot still distillation, the distillery ages its single malt in hand-selected single-use Kentucky bourbon barrels. The bourbon is dumped then immediately hauled across the States on a 43-hour tour, then refilled at the Vancouver Island distillery. Bottled without chill-filtration at 92 proof.
CanadianDISTILLED IN CANADA AND AGED IN BARRELS FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS; OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) CANADIAN WHISKIES ARE BLENDS OF CORN, BARLEY, AND RYE WHISKIES WHICH WERE DISTILLED AND MATURED SEPARATELY. TRADITIONALLY, CANADIAN WHISKEY IS CALLED “RYE”, ALTHOUGH NO MINIMUM PERCENTAGE OF RYE-GRAIN WHISKY IS REQUIRED IN A BLEND.
"This is a whisky with range where patience offers reward. The nose drops a subtle series of fragrances alternating from chocolate mint, floral lilacs and farm-fresh grass while vanilla, caramel and malted barley develop. This assortment continues in the medley of flavors with sweet vanilla, sea spray, spice and a slight bitter nip of grapefruit peel leading into a gentle finish. Just enough of the whole enchilada to involve all taste buds without weighing down the mouth."
