Reviewed September 4, 2022Sweet smokey budget Islay blend. Maybe bit bit of Laphroaig, with its rubber, medicinal Aroma. Palate is sweet and peaty, but no young malt sourness like Wee Beastie. If you have cut back on your Islay rations as they now all mostly start at $60 for even the cheap stuff, then this is a pleasant but unremarkable blend it worth a try if you live near a Total Wine store. FYI, they sell it in 50ml bottles for $4 if you want to try it first. -

Reviewed July 15, 2022Aromas of tobacco and heavy smoke. There’s wood and some fruit notes. Very intense smoke on the flavor too. Peat and smoke. The first flavor and the finish are both smoky but a different type of smoky. The first sip is smoked peat. Or smoked meat. Or smoked newspaper actually. The finish travels into the smoked rubber territory. The burn is nice. I think if the finish were more consistent with the first touch of the tongue I would like this more. -

Reviewed June 4, 2022This is really Smokey and slightly peaty and to be honest I don’t enjoy drinking it as it is. I will say though this is similar to Shieldaig “finest old” which is also too Smokey for me to drink as is. I will use this as I do Shieldaig which is to mix it with some other rather undesirable whiskey that seems to have very little balance. I have found making my own blended whiskey to be very satisfying. I just have a weakness for buying whiskeys that I’ve never heard of or had before regardless of price or of previous known reviews. Blending whiskeys together allows me to eventually drink all of my stock. -
