Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 13

Stagg is so good. Incredible maple syrup nose then great palate. Would give a higher score if it had a longer finish compared to other stagg’s.

I’m not normally one to quibble over heat, but this is too hot when going down. It’s a nice candy sweetness at first, but then the burn overwhelms.

Sweet, caramel, mint, cinnamon, vanilla, oak, tannins. Incredibly smooth for the proof.

Amazing whiskey that punches above its weight. Subtle hints of vanilla, carmel, and dark fruit woth heavy wood influences. Surprisingly very smooth even though it was almost 130 proof.

Heavy tannins and full vanilla notes kick things off. Followed closely by cinnamon sticks, licorice and cherry cola (prominent cherry). Kicks you in the mouth but mellows out beautifully. Rounds out with a molasses tail, more subtle notes of tannins/baking spices, and a savory buttered popcorn undertone. Pretty much exactly what I’m looking for in a good bourbon.

Definitely can taste the 131 proof (batch 18)
