Reviewed June 3, 2023r/bourbon private barrel selection. This is definitely a unique whiskey unlike Inhave ever tried before. While you get some of that rye spice, and I like sweeter bourbon in general, I found this to ultimatelu be too sweet. Honey/orange overpower the palate and then a dry orange peel finish lingers, like you are sucking on an irange rind. It’s something I’m glad I got to try, but isnt something I’d buy again. -

Reviewed June 23, 2022 (edited April 12, 2024)This particular single barrel is a Bourbon Lens selection, bottled at 52.4%, 5 years old, 11 months in a vino de naranja barrel. The white wine and orange peel are evident on the nose, along with bourbony notes of caramel and vanilla. The palate brings orange, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, mint, and mild herbal notes. The finish leaves a little too much bitter orange peel. At the sale price of $50, I think this was a great buy, but at the regular price of $70, the value diminishes a bit, although it's still a well done craft whiskey with decent age and a unique finish. This is the first whiskey I've tried from Starlight, and it's a strong first impression. I'd be interested to try some others. 3.5 stars.50.0 USD per Bottle
