Stauning Rye
Stauning Whisky launched in 2005, and is named for the Danish village where it's located along the west coast of the country. The distillery uses a series of small, direct-fired copper pot stills for production, and also conducts its own floor malting with local grains, as well as local peat and heather. The Stauning Rye expression is a three year old made from 70% malted rye and 30% malted barley.
It's bottled at 96 proof and is part of an inaugural U.S. portfolio that launched June 2021.

RyeUnlike bourbon, rye whiskey can be made anywhere in the world. But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.
Tasting Notes
"The nose is grain-forward, along with mint, Baker's chocolate, pine wood, and peanut shells. The palate is herbaceous and starts with rye spice and lacquer, followed by a richer profile on the back, with clover honey, toffee, and dried fruits. The finish is short and showcases maple syrup, fennel, menthol, and oak."
