Smoke and peat are extremely pronounced in this smooth whiskey. Bacon and brisket sit on your tongue as you sip which adds to the profile. Maybe a little more oily than I prefer but the brine offsets it well. The scotch is definitely a top notch whiskey at an excellent price point for what you get.

What's kippers again? Taste bacon and brisket smoke from the Q right off the bat. Smoke escapes to the nose even if you don't take time to notice normally. Smoky yet smooth, spicy and a bit more oily than my preference. This is the whiskey for a fall day by the grill, smoker or fireplace. This is very straightforward from the beginning, nothing fruity or floral about it. Definitely can tast the pepper and peat come out late. Fine scotch.
Oh what a dram! Less smoky than the Islay malts, this whisky makes up for it by presenting a much more rounded and balanced flavor profile. The peat doesn't dominate because it doesn't need to: what's here is a symphony of wood, brine, smoke, and honey that faintly smacks of cognac on the finish. Brilliant tipple.

Revisiting this with my more refined palate I find I like it more than I had done.
Not enough peat on the nose for my liking and the flavour profile is a little sharp and monotone on the palate. A dash of water opens it up and the finish is lovely and long, with suggestions of clove and honey amid the smoke.
