Vanilla, sugary notes with a little bit of Chinese violet right in the center. You also notice wood's lignin, tannin and that slight dry bitterness or spices are on the side with lemon zest sprinkle on top.
Smooth sugary notes flow right through the palate in the middle lane while dry fruit and lemon company on the side. Then you feel spices, dry and bitterness hit you like a tsunami from behind for the first time. After that you will get use to it.
Medium to short finish with the rind of an orange.
Overall, not a bad whisky. I like the use of Rum cask instead of ex-bourbon cask here which delivery different kind of sweetness to your palate.
Bourbon sugary flavour notes are there throughout the whole session.
Slight bitterness, earthy and spicy notes from the American oak are on the palate and fresh lemon squeeze with lemon skin are with you to the end.
