Tequila Orgullo Pueblo Viejo Reposado
Tequila Orgullo Pueblo Viejo // Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
The pale straw reposado is aged for at least 11 months in oak. 100% estate-grown Highland agaves from the distillery located near Tepatitlan, Los Altos de Jalisco are used for this tequila. The piñas are oven-baked, Champagne yeast is used in the fermentation process, and the mash is double distilled.
Tequila ReposadoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged from 2 months up to a year in barrels no larger than 20,000 L. Any type of wood is acceptable, although ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Reposado translates to "rested".
"Moderated agave and some suppressed heat dominate the nose. More agave, green peppercorn and a slight woodiness appear in the tasting, along with some vanilla and a whisper of spice. The impression is of a clean but not complex spirit neither stripped of character nor greatly improved by oak aging. It does, however, work beautifully with strong, dry cheeses."
