The Botanist Islay Cask Aged Gin
Barrel-Aged Gin
The Botanist // Scotland
Introduced in February 2024, this release is one of two bottlings in The Islay Cask Matured Gin Range. The Botanist Gin — made with 22 wild, hand-foraged Islay botanicals — is produced at Bruichladdich on Islay so the brand was able to experiment with over 300 cask types found across their warehouses.
With this Islay Cask Aged Gin bottling, Head Distiller Adam Hannett selected 8 different types of American and European oak casks from a variety of regions for the aging period of at least three years. Availability will be limited to select on-premise accounts only.

Tasting Notes
"The gin flavors are still present on the nose, but they're muted. Heartier earthy and barrel spices come through as does the coriander, but little else. On the palate, the gin has a full mouthfeel and oak, but it's not too tannic and tight. The delicate floral and fruity notes typically found in The Botanist are lost. While this isn't totally into whiskey territory, it isn't quite in the gin camp either. Have fun and play around with stirred cocktails or serve on the rocks."
