Reviewed March 8, 2024Martin's Supermarket pick 117.3 pf N- low ethanol, very sweet caramel and vanilla very forward. Almost smells like maple at first. Maybe some baking spices and pie crust on the tail end. P- initial taste is cereal grains on the front palate. Chewing brings out cherry and berries midpalate. F- Medium finish. Spicy on the front taste buds. Somewhat dry but not tannic like some cabernet finished I've had. One of my sleeper favorites this year. Picked it up because of the incredible sale price. You probably won't find one for this price, but it's worth more IMO.50.0 USD per BottleMartin's Super Markets -

Reviewed December 26, 2022Intense and expressive, this is the first release of Dave Phinney’s highly anticipated four year-old Bourbon. Unreal nose to start the party. Just enough bit in the mouth to have noticeable flavor with hints of brown sugar, caramel and butterscotch, smooth down the throat, sweet to the taste from the granache wine barrel. -

Reviewed September 30, 2022 (edited June 9, 2023)Total Wine (NorCal) Pick Les Trois Sauvages Barrel: 295 ABV: 57.36% I was hesitant to give this a shot since the Total Wine Spirits Manager was pushing this on me hard. Eventually I caved, but am totally glad I did. First, the bottle itself is absolutely beautiful and unique, with a completely glass top (including glass cork). This is bourbon finished in 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Grenache, and 10% zinfandel. The nose from a fresh pour has a good amount of ethanol to it, which is understandable with the proof. It has notes of honey and butterscotch. Hints of wine also, from the finish. The palette is quite wonderful. It has a nice influence from the wine barrels. Its sweet but not overpowering. Some very light caramel and stone fruits. The finish is excellent. Not a lot of burn but the flavor that stays on your tongue is quite pleasant and long lasting. Overall I am glad I gave this a try and would recommend. It is a little bit pricey, but its well worth it for a unique bourbon.84.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed March 17, 2022 (edited June 9, 2023)Nose: Carmel, vanilla, barrel spices a bit of ethanol. Palate: cinnamon red hot candy shell with strong spice kick. Carmel. It’s like a Carmel cinnamon candy. Finish: long and lingers. Overall: 4/5 stars. This is a delightful pour. My bottle came from Aniger NC ABC store. Barrel picked by the store workers. It’s called the Crepe Myrtle select for the Crepe Myrtle city.
